since everyone (check out greg and deb's blogs) has been posting up their "Wrap up of 2007" post, I shall do the same here.
"hi bernice, this is zhuoyi your OGL from RJC. You'll be in BB10 for Orientation 2007....." It has been one year already since I received the phone call from zhuoyi. Well, honestly I was kinda nervous and excited at the same time. Not knowing what to expect from this new school where I hear stories about all the "hardcore" mugging we were to brace ourselves for (ok, at that time, I had not idea what in the world was hardcore -_-")
Orientation was fun! (: My OGmates made it more erm.... interesting. hahaha! kenneth and his arvind jokes, sabby and her lame ones. Then there were aaron and victor (I was pretty scared of them haha) funny dudes. poor darren who was constantly taupoked by the guys :/ and OMG I ALMOST FORGOT... YEO MINQI who was later crowned the bimb of canoeing 0708. Then came class allocation, from the OG, only arnold! was in the same class as me! hahahhaa! orientation dance partner, ONite dance partner WAHAHA :D memories
First impressions of 08S03N? "okay.... not too bad..... everyone looks pretty normal... then, omg alfredtoh has cooler specs than me?! (his was orange, mine was greeen)...... oh, hi jiawen and huiyi! same class again??..... etc." and so things unfurled as 2007 trudged on, camwhoring sessions in between classes with silly LUA and TOE and HUI and SEN and BIN -_- " we should do a photo montage at the end of J2 :D hahahah! random shouts of MOLE! or BLACK! would ring out during class *death stare at greg O.O our 8/9 people "class outings".....
then Canoeing.
probably the best thing that has ever happened to me. I remember that my initial reason for joining canoeing was because I was so sick of swimming. For the past 14 years of my life, I've been floating around in a swimming pool, unaware that there was another cool sport out there which I could excel in and actually... enjoy. The seniors, THE TEAM <3
My first canoeing race, omg I was just soooooooo scared.
NJCC: thank you hannah for being my stable backman. All the encouragement to go even faster, to test our limits, reminding me of the "3rd person" in the boat..... you were that first senior who held my hand as we prayed before our race. thank you
Women's open, NATIONALS. I'll never forget those 3 gruelling days, never cried so much before. We saw our seniors stumble and fall, but they picked themselves up stronger than before. It was then I really believed that nothing could stop us, there was nothing to lose but to go out there and pour everything out for that full 2+ minutes of rowing.
Don't think any of us got over what happened at Nationals completely, but the mugging season just kinda edged everything out of my mind. promos CHIONGG..
zomg, the late night studying in the canteen, windy benches.
not to forget running in pitch blackness with victoria around the track to relieve stress
the time when greg was too stressed and attempted to lock me in the classroom with the lights off -_____-" omg toe, you really suck. HAHAHAA
just can't believe that I'll be experiencing these things more often next year.........
So what are my resolutions for 2008 you may ask...
well, of course there's the usual straight As for exams/ A levels, give a shot at the medals for Canoeing, CIP yada yada...
But I really want to grow as a person. RJC has definitely given me the opportunity to mature in terms of character and well, EQ. J2 will be a more demanding year with greater responsibilities and my new year resolution is really to face whatever 2008 may bring in my own stride and just to be true to myself. As long as I hold on to the set of values that I stand for and with God's loving hand guiding me along this path, I pray that 2008 will be a better year ahead...
